day four was another day of (mostly) conference. even after being out until almost 5:00, i managed to drift into the conference at 9:45 or so. morning attendance was suspiciously light, especially among my friends and the other group we'd seen heading out on the town. the weather remained warm and the conference was hot and uncomfortable. standing around outside talking to people was far preferable to being inside in those hard wooden chairs. after the conference, i walked around a bit with conference friends and we did a little shopping. we stopped somewhere for drinks and then sauntered over to the nieuwmarkt to go to a swiss place for fondue. it was pretty good, but with all the open flames around, it sure was hot. afterwards we said our goodbyes and our see-you-next-conferences. after chilling a bit at my hotel i met ruud and his wife for drinks at a place near my hotel. it was a nice way to round out a long day. but at least with the conference behind me i'd have more time to play tourist during my remaining two days.
